Indigenous people were present in this land for millennia and remain present, despite efforts to forcibly remove them and their cultures. We wish to learn from their relations with the land as we cultivate our own relations with the land, through attentive inquiry and fostering a sense of wonder and appreciation for the land's beauty, inspiration, and teachings.

We thank the McKenzie River Trust for access to the land and opportunities to present samples of this work to their community. This art-science project is part of the Long-Term Ecological Reflections program supported by the Spring Creek Project for Ideas, Nature, and the Written Word and the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest program of ecological inquiry, supported in part by the National Science Foundation, Oregon State University, and the U.S. Forest Service.
