The March 2022 issue of Commonweal was the second time an essay by the writer Vincent J Miller was paired with my photographs from FOLLOWING FIRE. The January 2020 issue paired my images from Old Growth Dialogue with his essay that looks at the Pope’s encyclical Laudato Si.

Wildling Museum

My work titled Standing,Still. is currently part of a fabulous exhibition at The Wildling Museum titled Fire and Ice. Thirteen different art, history and natural history museums throughout all of Santa Barbara County collaborated during these same months to address climate change. Each institution selected their own theme and curated an exhibit to address that theme. A great idea!

Baldwin Gallery

The Baldwin Photographic Gallery hosted an exhibition of 90 photographs from five different bodies of my work. The exhibit included works from the first image in 1981 that led me toward publishing Urban Forest twenty years later and Standing, Still. which was made forty years later. Trees and forests continue to inspire and educate me. They have a long history of knowing how to live together balancing individuality with community, a model we humans can learn from.

Embodied Forest was published by ecoartspace in October of 2021. The first edition has sold out and orders are being taken for the second edition. The Brazilian curator Lilian Fraiji selected 90 artists from around the world for this online exhibition and printed book. I’m honored to have been selected and the range of works on a tree theme is incredible.
